The Trap Door is a modern-day, speakeasy style bar located in Clare, Michigan. Our mission is to provide a unique selection of hand-crafted cocktails, rare whiskeys, craft beer, and elegant wines that will compliment our imitation of an underground establishment during the Prohibition era. We operate on a first come first serve basis, and strive to offer a one of a kind experience that will allow our guests the opportunity to relax, socialize, and celebrate a ravishing future.

A live murder mystery unfolding at The Trap Door
Something sinister is coming to The Trap Door on Saturday, October 24 and it will happen when you least expect it.
Join us during regular Saturday service as an ordinary evening at the speakeasy slowly takes a deadly turn. As cocktails are poured and conversations continue, suspicious characters will appear, secrets will surface and a murder mystery will unfold around you in real time.
There is no stage, no separate performance and no assigned role required. Simply visit The Trap Door, enjoy your evening and watch closely as the mystery becomes part of the night happening all around you.
The original mystery is written and brought to life by author **K.J. Spencer**.

Submit an audio or video pitch under 5 minutes to hauntedmichigan05@gmail.com by October 13th. Storytellers must be 21+, and this is a volunteer opportunity. Selected storytellers will be notified by October 20th. Some stories may also be recorded for use in an upcoming UNNERVED Podcast episode.

Sunday, November 15 Choose from two separate investigations: 2:00 p.m. or 6:00 p.m. Each investigation lasts approximately 2 hours | $120 per of two
Step behind The Trap Door once again for an evening of mystery, intrigue, and unforgettable dining. When purchasing your table, please select which investigation your party would like to attend: 2:00 p.m. or 6:00 p.m. Each show is a separate investigation, and your ticket is valid only for the time selected.
This package includes tickets for two guests and includes an immersive murder mystery experience paired with a specially curated menu featuring:
- Mini charcuterie plate
- Fresh salad
- Exclusive event flatbread
- Dessert
Tickets must be purchased in advance, and seating is limited. The $120 ticket price admits two guests and includes the complete dining experience, entertainment, and event gratuity. Additional gratuity for our service staff and performers is never expected but is always warmly appreciated.
Please note: This experience may include adult themes, language, and content that may not be suitable for all ages. This ticket reserves a complete table for your party of eight. You may be seated near and interact with other attendees throughout the performance. We invite you to embrace the experience—you may arrive as strangers, but by the end of the evening, everyone is a suspect.

Introducing Jenn Simons, the Manager at The Trap Door Speakeasy. Jenn oversees day-to-day operations, ensures exceptional guest experiences, and manages the team behind one of the city’s most unique and inviting cocktail destinations. With a passion for hospitality and a deep appreciation for the art of mixology, Jenn is dedicated to creating a memorable atmosphere that blends timeless charm with modern elegance.
Outside of work, Jenn enjoys spending quality time with family and their beloved dogs. An avid reader, they often find solace in a good book, whether it’s fiction or nonfiction. Her commitment to balance and well-being extends to both her personal and professional life, fostering a warm and welcoming environment for both staff and patrons alike.
